Boy, 10, fighting for life after traffic accidentRSS Feed
A ten-year-old boy who was caught up in a traffic accident on Sunday (August 12th) is battling for life in a Hampshire hospital.
He was hit by a blue Mercedes at about 19:15 BST and ambulance crews immediately rushed to the scene in Middle Park Way, Leigh Park, the Portsmouth News reports.
The boy, who has been named locally as Harry, was outside playing at the time while his parents were involved in a barbecue at a nearby home.
Police are now appealing for witnesses as they attempt to piece together the moment the car and Harry came into contact.
Derek Smith, 65, who lives in the road, said the first he knew of the crash was when he heard a loud bang.
"I saw him lying in the road. My wife went over and looked after him for a while until the police came," he noted.
It seems the incident could have been even worse, as Mr Smith suggested one factor in the boy's favour was the fact the car was travelling relatively slowly at the time.
