Over half of drivers 'unaware of drink drive limits'RSS Feed
More than half of motorists are unaware of the legal alcohol limit for driving, according to new research, the ignorance of which could cause many a traffic accident.
Research conducted by Confused.com also revealed that 20 per cent of people would be willing to chance drink driving, while 13 per cent admitted to having felt tipsy while behind the wheel.
Furthermore, 31 per cent of these drivers are unaware that other factors such as weight, stress levels, gender, whether you have eaten recently and age also mean that alcohol affects people differently.
Rebecca Clough, of alcohol education charity Drinkaware, warned: "Even small amounts of alcohol can affect your ability to drive. So the only safe advice is to avoid drinking if you are driving. If you are planning to drink when you go out, make alternative arrangements like choosing a 'designated driver' from your group of friends, plan your journey home by public transport or use a licensed taxi."
