Festive season 'a dangerous time on the roads'RSS Feed
More people could be involved in a traffic accident during the festive season, with many drivers admitting to being more irritated behind the wheel during this time.
Almost one-fifth of motorists find driving over Christmas more stressful or irritating than at any other time of year.
One-quarter named the difficult road conditions at the time of year as the most stressful part of motoring, which was closely followed by parking during Christmas shopping and the increase of traffic on the roads.
In an attempt to stay off the roads, nearly one in six people have opted to purchase their Christmas gifts online this year. Only one in ten will not be buying any presents over the internet.
Kay Martin, chief marketing officer at Zurich, said: "It's important to remember that driving while stressed or irritated can of course be dangerous. If you're panicking to get to the shops for those last-minute gifts you could find yourself putting your foot down or driving aggressively."
