Lyme Regis residents 'live in fear of traffic accident'RSS Feed
Local residents in Lyme Regis live in fear of a serious traffic accident on the busy Uplyme Road, as a result of how drivers choose to park.
Dorset County Council has been asked to install double yellow lines at the entrance to residential street Penny Plot to discourage parking there, reports the Bridport News.
Speaking to the newspaper, Penny Plot resident Julia O'Kelly explained: "They park either side of the entrance so that if you are coming out of Penny Plot you have to be right out in the middle of the road and you are in a very vulnerable situation.
"There have been so many near misses."
A number of local authorities throughout the UK are hoping to reduce road traffic accident risks by reducing speed limits in residential and urban areas.
Lewisham Borough Council in London, Bristol City Council and many others are hopeful a 20mph limit will be made a reality for residents very soon.
