Highways Agency officer commended for traffic accident preventionRSS Feed
A Highways Agency traffic officer has been commended for his efforts to cut down on traffic accidents on Britain's roads.
Simon Sheldon-Wilson, who is director of traffic management at the organisation, received the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award for his hard work.
Speaking after the presentation last week in the West Midlands regional control centre, Mr Sheldon-Wilson explained: "Traffic officers work during all hours and in all conditions and are routinely tested by incidents ranging from debris on the carriageway to the effects of the most severe winter conditions in decades.
"I am very proud of their dedication and professionalism."
Last month, Highways Agency officers received praise from users of motorways in the north-west for their work, particularly when traffic accidents have occurred.
They received particular praise for drawing on resources in the case of an incident, as well as reassuring vulnerable motorway users.
