Worker knocked unconscious after forklift truck fallRSS Feed
A man was injured in an accident at work after climbing onto the roof of a forklift tuck in Leigh.
The 29-year-old fell off the vehicle, striking his head on the ground and being knocked unconscious for several minutes.
He suffered severe headaches, a painful swelling to the head and was off work for one week as a result of the fall.
Serviceplan Contracts Ltd was prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for failing to ensure the work at Moss Industrial Estate was carried out safely.
HSE inspector Emily Osborne, commented: "Workers face being seriously injured if they fall just a few feet. It's therefore vital that companies plan work at height, supervise it appropriately and carry it out safely with the appropriate equipment."
In other news, a self-employed construction worker was left with permanent personality changes after being struck on the head by a falling 10kg stone.
