Ford KA2 'cheapest to insure for young drivers'

Cheap car insurance is known to be difficult to get for 17 to 20-year-olds, as motorists in this age group are believed to drive more recklessly, potentially causing a traffic accident.

Research by Confused.com has found that the Ford KA2 is the cheapest car to insure for people of this age, with the Peugeot 107 following closely behind.

Furthermore, based on motors costing between £600 and £10,000, a Honda Civic proved the most expensive vehicle for 17 to 20-year-olds to get insurance on.

Motor insurance based on a 17-20-year-old male now comes to £4,006 per year for comprehensive cover.

Gareth Kloet, Head of Car Insurance at Confused.com says: "Young drivers and learners are telling us that the cost of insurance is the biggest barrier to getting behind the wheel: more so than the cost of buying the car.

"Buying your first car should be exciting, not a worry about whether you can afford the insurance costs."
