Wheelchair-bound father-of-two promotes workplace safetyRSS Feed
A father-of-two who was injured in an accident at work is urging others in the construction industry to ensure they stay safe.
Jason Anker was paralysed at the age of 24 when working for a Midland roofing firm.
After repairing a flat roof, Mr Ankar was on his way down a ladder when it slipped from under him and he fell ten feet to the ground below.
He explained that the ladder was not tied to the building as the fact the job had overrun meant workers were rushing to complete it quickly.
"I remember I couldn't feel my legs when I was lying on the ground and the doctors basically ended up telling me I'd never walk again. I was absolutely devastated. I just thought something like that would never happen to me," Mr Ankar said.
This follows news that a Pineview Interiors Ltd subcontractor was left with severe burns after an accident at work involving an electrical explosion.
