Women applying make-up at the wheel to drive up accident claims?RSS Feed
The habit of many women to apply make-up while driving could lead to many a traffic accident.
A quarter of female drivers admitted to applying make-up at the wheel in a survey conducted by car insurance company Diamond.
Furthermore, of these motorists, 16 per cent have crashed or had a near-miss as a result which is unsurprising as seven per cent confessed they remove their hands from the wheel completely when doing their make-up.
In addition, two-thirds said they have done this with passengers in the car, while almost a third said they had children travelling in the car with them at the time.
Diamond managing director, Elwyn Gedrych said: "It's shocking that quite so many women admit to doing these tasks while driving. We all have busy lives but applying your make-up, or checking emails, when you're driving is dangerous as it means your full attention is not on the road ahead."
