Tree surgeon left with severe leg injuries after accident at workRSS Feed
A tree surgeon has been fined after an accident at work left an employee with severe injuries to his right leg.
Davyd Dyer, 30, suffered a broken leg and severe muscle injuries when his trouser leg was caught in a tree stump grinder which employer Richard Curteis had left running without being at the controls.
The worker walked in front of the machine when his trousers become caught on the rotating cutting head, pulling his leg into moving parts of the machine.
It is unclear as to whether Mr Dyer, who underwent a number of operations to reconstruct his leg, will be able to continue working as a tree surgeon.
This comes after news that Carrylife Materials Handling Ltd was fined after two workers experienced a high voltage electric shock.
Both men were burned and one was temporarily blinded in the accident at work, which occurred when they climbed up a dockside crane to check the electricity supply.
