Even home workers need health and safety assessment, expert saysRSS Feed
Employers should make sure to consider the health and safety of their home workers as well as those in the office to avoid any accident claim, one expert has said.
Bar Huberman, employment law editor at XpertHR, has said that employees who work from home are entitled to the same health and safety diligence as those on the firm's premises.
She continued that in some cases, the employee is entitled to a health and safety risk assessment of their home by their employer.
"Suitability includes things like space, workstation, monitor and arrangements for storage, and it might, depending on the role, involve sending health and safety inspector to the employee’s home," said the expert.
A report in the Evening Standard found that tens of thousands of staff at London's top banks will be told to work from home or opt for flexitime during the Olympics.
