Road Safety Week 2011 looking to reduce accident claimsRSS Feed
A road safety awareness event taking place later this year is aiming to reduce the number of accident claims in the UK.
Road Safety Week 2011, which runs from November 21st to the 27th, is a national campaign designed to cut the traffic accident rate.
Organiser Brake is keen to see as many children and parents involved, so it is urging early years educators to access free advice and take part.
Julie Townsend, Brake campaigns director, explained that teachers, nursery group leaders and carers of young children "are brilliantly placed" to teach them "basic but essential road safety lessons".
"They can also play a key part in promoting road safety messages among parents and the local community," she added.
"In previous years, hundreds of nurseries and playgroups have taken part in Road Safety Week, helping to make the event a huge success."
Police forces were encouraged to start planning for this year's event, which has the theme of Too Young to Die, as early as March.
