Men more likely to cause accident claims, says IAMRSS Feed
Men could be more likely to cause accident claims, after it was claimed male drivers are more dangerous than women.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) says men are more likely to be involved in a traffic accident than women because of bad driving habits such as going too fast or drink driving.
Men are nearly twice as likely to have a collision due to being careless, reckless or in a hurry, while they are also more likely to crash due to poor behaviour or inexperience.
It follows research from TomTom that shows men's stress levels increase by seven times that of women when in heavy traffic.
However, the IAM study reveals that nearly twice as many men rate themselves as very confident drivers.
IAM chief executive Simon Best said: "These results show that we need to look at the psychology of male drivers to reduce risky behaviour and over-confidence, but for both sexes accidents could be easily reduced by improving driver skills and lives could be saved."
