Bosses 'fail to take lead' to prevent accident claimsRSS Feed
Bosses are failing to take a lead in preventing accident claims, it has been claimed.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has argued that there are many areas of health and safety that are being completely ignored.
Roger Bibbings, occupational safety adviser at the organisation, explained that an accident at work could come from anywhere.
"Most troubling of all, directors do not lead the way when it comes to health and safety, workers are not involved in health and safety, and firms do not access expert advice when they need to," he said.
Mr Bibbings went on to explain that these things are not expensive and certainly do not cost as much as accident claims.
Meanwhile, workplace safety fears have been raised by a leaked letter from the Health and Safety Executive seen by the BBC. It reveals inspections across entire sectors of industry could be cancelled due to budget constraints.
