Cumbria driver blames absence of road markings for traffic accidentRSS Feed
A busy junction in Cumbria that has been left without road markings is a traffic accident waiting to happen, local councillors have been warned.
The absence of markings is what Barrow resident Joanne Fothergill has blamed for her traffic accident at the junction, which fortunately left her without any broken bones, reports the North West Evening Mail.
Speaking to the newspaper, Ms Fothergill explained: "I was dropping somebody off. I've never been on that road, but even the chap I bumped into and his wife both agreed you wouldn’t realise it was a give-way.
"It really did look like my road just carried on."
The junction could even result in an accident claim if another traffic accident occurs there.
Earlier this month, the Bicycle Helmet Initiative Trust urged children to wear helmets, in a bid to reduce the number of child cyclist deaths resulting from head injuries.
