Woman dies after horrific accident at workRSS Feed
A woman was crushed to death during a terrible accident at work at a Nokia factory in India.
The head and neck of the 22-year-old worker became trapped inside the manual loader and she sustained injuries to the skull.
Other workers stopped the machine and pulled her out and she was rushed to hospital in Sriperumbudur but the injuries proved to be fatal.
The Times of India reported that Sriperumbudur deputy superintendent of police V Balasubramaniam said: "Ambiga had opened the inspection door of the loading machine when it got stuck. She was supposed to call the floor leader for such work but opened it herself."
A company spokesperson said there will be in investigation into the accident.
"Safety and security of our employees is of utmost concern for us. Any such incident as this will be investigated properly as per factory norms and guidelines," he added.
Around 70 per cent of the 7000 employees at the plant are women and the factory has declared a holiday in light of the accident.
