Will road works keep traffic accident claims low?RSS Feed
Local government and ministers may be able to keep traffic accident claims to a minimum by continuing to invest in road improvements.
RoadSafe has welcomed the latest figures from the Department for Transport (DfT), which show a decline in serious injuries sustained in traffic accidents.
However, the charity's director, Adrian Walsh, suggests that improvements must continue to be made to keep traffic accidents to a minimum.
He explained: "It is imperative that local and central governments continue to improve roads, and motorists strive to perfect their driving standards.
"We have a system that delivers five star cars. We want five star roads and five star drivers as well."
The latest data from the DfT indicates that the number of people killed or seriously injured in cars fell by nine per cent in the 12 months to June 2010.
Serious accidents and fatalities on all roads also dropped by seven per cent, according to the data.
