Will road crossing investment prevent accident claims in the future?RSS Feed
Local residents in a Staffordshire traffic accident hotspot are pleased with plans to improve safety at the popular road crossing.
Three crossings and a central island are set to be built on the Sandon Road using £70,000 in funding from Stoke-On-Trent City Council, reports The Sentinel.
Sixty-nine-year-old local resident Edith Malbon welcomed the news, telling the newspaper that it should improve things.
She added: "The plans for islands in the middle of the road would make it safer because at least you could get across one lane and then wait for the other to clear.
"I've lived here for 44 years and in that time the traffic has become terrible."
Recent figures published by Road Safety Analysis indicated that children across the UK are exposed to varying risk when it comes to the likelihood they will be involved in a road traffic accident.
