UK tourist attractions 'slip up' on accident claimsRSS Feed
Accident claims have cost the UK's tourist attractions millions of pounds in recent years, a new survey has found.
A total of at least £2,149,345 was paid out by 24 organisations in compensation and legal costs over the past five years, according to a poll conducted by the Sunday Telegraph.
Among the payouts, dozens of cases related to slips and trips, the study revealed.
Incidents at the British Museum, Tate Modern, the Tower of London and Snowdonia National Park are among those said to have resulted in payouts.
The news comes after an industry commentator suggested that accident claims are costing small businesses and insurance companies millions of pounds every year.
In an article for FreshBusinessThinking.com, Josh Hall states that health and safety should be a priority area for all types of business.
Mr Hall, business correspondent for SimplyBusiness.co.uk, said organisations need to consider the impact on their reputation as well as the financial cost of such claims.
