Traffic accident fireman 'should have slowed down'RSS Feed
A fireman who was involved in a fatal traffic accident should have slowed down for the red light, a court heard.
Robert Hulatt, 28, was responding to an emergency call when the fire engine he was driving hit a car, killing driver Leteef Kadri Sheikh, 52.
Prosecutor Beverly Cripps said that Mr Hulatt should have slowed down and that the traffic lights were red as the fireman approached the junction.
Mr Sheikh was in the car with his wife and three daughters on the school run in 2009 at the time of the incident.
The jury were told that Mr Hulatt was at the end of his shift and was responding to an emergency call to a house fire when the traffic accident happened.
Mr Hulatt denies causing death by dangerous driving.
Meanwhile, AA Insurance has warned motorists that the snowy weather has caused a rise in traffic accidents on Britain's roads.
