Road accident claims jogger's lifeRSS Feed
Possible accident claims from people running on busy roads have been highlighted after a man was killed in Aberdeen recently.
Angus MacKenzie of Springfield Avenue, Aberdeen, was hit by a car while out jogging in the city, putting the dangers involved in running on public roads in the spotlight.
Sergeant Neil Morrison of Grampian Police's Road Policing Department said: "Our enquiries are continuing and our thoughts and sympathy are with the family and friends of Mr MacKenzie at this difficult time."
The father of two died on the way to hospital and the Press and Journal reports that he worked for Shell in Aberdeen.
A spokesman for the company told the newspaper that he was a "respected and valued" member of staff.
Meanwhile, the THINK! road safety campaign is helping to reduce road accident deaths on Britain's roads.
It said that an average of 37 children were killed or seriously injured on Britain's roads every week in 2007, the latest year for which figures are available.
