Police appeal for witnesses following Durham traffic accidentRSS Feed
A 17-year-old boy from West Auckland, Durham is in a serious condition after being involved in a traffic accident.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident, reports the Advertiser Series, in which the pedestrian sustained multiple injuries.
Sergeant Phil Grieve of Durham Police has called for anyone that saw the teenager before or during the collision to contact them.
Following the incident, a 39-year-old woman was treated for shock, but was unharmed. Her child passenger was also uninjured.
Last week, the Institute of Advanced Motorists gave couples heading out on the road on Valentine's Day a special warning, to ensure that they stay safe on the roads.
The Institute's chief examiner, Peter Rodgers, explained that care needs to be taken on unfamiliar roads in particular, especially if using a satnav.
He said: "Don't follow it blindly; this can lead to unromantic diversions into fields, and sadly, serious crashes."
