Packaging firm fined after fatal accident at workRSS Feed
A packaging firm has been fined after a worker was killed during an accident at work when a machine he was working inside was switched on.
Clive Hall, 50, who had been working at the firm in Padfield for less than two months, was struck on the head by a bar inside the cut and crease machine and died instantly.
Mr Hall's ex-wife, Pam, said: "His children now have to live without a father for the rest of their lives because of the company's negligence."
Glossop Carton and Print Ltd was fined £50,000 and ordered to pay £76,150 in costs after an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive found he had put workers at risk.
This comes after news that David Minor, a mechanical fitter, suffered broken vertebrae when the ladder he was climbing at building and timber merchants Ridgeons Ltd made contact with a live conductor, causing him to fall 18 feet to the ground.
