North Wales aims at accident claim reductionRSS Feed
An initiative aimed at reducing accident claims in North Wales is getting underway this month.
The police, fire service and highways agency are teaming up to visit schools and mini cab companies throughout Conwy and Denbighshire to encourage the use of seatbelts.
Parents and drivers will also be advised on the correct fitting and use of child and booster seats to help reduce traffic accident injuries.
Around 4,400 under tens are injured and 22 killed on UK roads every year.
Llandudno Sergeant Jonny Hill said parents who do not use proper restraints are putting their children's lives at risk and are breaking the law.
"This initiative is about working in partnership with other agencies as well as the schools and local companies, to increase the use of seatbelts and in doing so, keeping our children safe," he added.
Traffic accidents on Welsh roads hit a record low last year, recent figures revealed.
