Montgomerie 'lucky' to escape serious injury in traffic accidentRSS Feed
Colin Montgomerie was not seriously injured in a serious traffic accident on the A80 Wednesday October, 21st which left his BMW straddling two lanes of the opposite carriageway.
The famous golfer told how he was trapped in his car when the BMW spun out of control after being hit by a van. The four-vehicle pile-up also involved a lorry and another car.
Montgomerie was pulled to safety by bystanders who had witnessed the accident, after the he was trapped in his car when the driver's door caved in and the airbags inflated.
Fortunately, no-one was seriously hurt in the traffic accident, which is thought to have written off Montgomerie's car.
He commented: "It was a terrible shock and I am lucky to have come out of it relatively unscathed – thanks, I am sure, to the car I was driving."
This comes after the sporting hero led Europe to victory earlier this month in the battle for the Ryder Cup.
