Michelin joins traffic accident schemeRSS Feed
Tyre maker Michelin has become the 50th member of a government-backed traffic accident reduction programme.
The Driving for Better Business campaign is aimed at promoting safer at-work driving among public and private sector organisations.
Around 200 deaths and serious injuries occur each week on British roads involving people driving for work purposes.
Michelin has seen its road crash rate fall by more than 50 per cent in the last five years and plans to reduce its incidence rate to zero.
Driving for Better Business campaign director Caroline Scurr said the additionof Michelin marks a "fantastic landmark".
"Each of our business champions can prove that taking the actions they have done to reduce employee at-work driving risk exposure results in a reduced number of road traffic crashes," she added.
The news comes after BikeSafe, which helps to cut motorcycle accidents with courses for riders, re-launched an updated version of its website.
