Man injured when gritter skidded off roadRSS Feed
A man sustained serious leg injuries in an accident at work when the gritter he was driving skidded off a road.
The gritter fell nine meters down a bank during the traffic accident after skidding off a road which was covered in black ice.
Anthony Jury, from South Molton, was trapped for two hours following the accident before being airlifted to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
He told the BBC: "I got round the corner, but as the camber changed it just slid right across the road. No chance at all."
"I thought that was the end. Then I came to a stop," he added.
This comes after two teenagers died and man suffered serious injury during a traffic accident when their car spun out of control, hit a tree and crashed into a garden wall.
It is unclear as to whether the traffic accident was related to the arctic weather conditions Britain was experiencing at the time.
