Injured cyclist launches accident claimRSS Feed
A mother who suffered a serious brain injury after being knocked off her bicycle, which left her deaf in one ear, has launched an accident claim.
Tara Butterfill, a 32-year-old mother of two, was cycling to her job as a Revenue and Customs officer in Littlehampton when she was struck on the back of the head by a car's wing mirror, the Argus reports.
The accident left her with a fractured skull and required her to spend a week in intensive care at Worthing Hospital.
She now suffers from loss of memory, balance problems and difficulty controlling her moods.
Ms Butterfill told the newspaper: "I am not the same person I was.
"I used to take my kids to the beach and the park and I can't now which I find quite hard."
The Cyclists' Touring Club is urging cyclists to join the "Stop SMIDSY" (Sorry Mate I Didn't See You) campaign by logging their experiences of inconsiderate drivers.
