India turns to Egypt for traffic accident reductionRSS Feed
Traffic accidents in India are common occurrences - with over 100,000 deaths a year in the country - and police are turning to desperate measures to combat the mounting death toll.
Police in Nagpur have agreed to place ten pyramids in traffic accident hot-spots in the hope that the objects can reduce deaths and serious injuries such as broken bones and burns.
It is not the physical qualities of the pyramids that are thought to help - it is the supernatural energy that it is claimed they emit that road users and police believe may limit accident claims.
The idea emerged from the meeting of police with an expert in the ancient Hindu system of construction known as Vatsu, AFP reports.
Vatsu guru Sushil Fatehpuria told AFP: "I think the accidents are caused by negative energies. So we need to minimise or convert the negative energy into positive ones."
Deaths on India's roads may be increasing, but traffic accidents are at their lowest level in decades in Scotland and Wales.
