Holiday accident claims show men are a liability

Accident claims from male holidaymakers have been put in the spotlight after a recent survey showed that men are three times more likely than women to suffer a slip or fall while on holiday.

Over a third of men (34 per cent) suffer some kind of accident while on their holidays compared with just 11 per cent of women, according to research from holiday company sunshine.co.uk.

Spokesman for Sunshine.co.uk Chris Brown said: "This shows that women obviously take more care and responsibility.

"While men are more up for having fun and throwing caution to the wind during vacations, their female counterparts keep a level head and consciously try to avoid accidents and illness."

The most common kinds of accidents involved slipping next a swimming pool (18 per cent) and falling over while drunk (15 per cent) with sporting injuries accounting for another 11 per cent of accidents.

Potential accident dangers from taking up adventurous new sports were highlighted recently in the UK after a man broke his back paragliding.

The man had received no training and bought his equipment from eBay.
