Health and safety workshop to cut accident claimsRSS Feed
Reducing accident claims will be one of the aims of a new workshop that is to run in Cardiff this June.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will be holding a programme of discussions and educational talks on the topic of safe mechanical isolation of plant and equipment.
After the success of the initiative in the Midlands, the HSE hopes that the project will have similar results in Wales.
The HSE said: "The aim is to help operators develop an action plan to achieve acceptable standards."
It is calling on senior managers and health and safety managers to attend the event on June 16th at HSE's Cardiff office.
Worries about construction site safety in the Midlands were recently raised by the HSE after 44 enforcement notices were issued following surveys which found poor safety procedures in place on numerous sites in the region.
Richard Lockwood, principal inspector of construction for the East Midlands, said: "It simply isn't worth taking risks to try and save money."
