Gardener left blind in one eye after freak accident at workRSS Feed
A young landscape gardener from Walsall was partially blinded during a horrific accident at work when a flying piece of metal hit him in the eye.
Ashley Brabbin, 25, who was working for Glendale Managed Services Ltd, was using a ride-on mower when the accident happened.
The worker was not wearing safety goggles and when he glanced behind him as he began to mow, the object hit his eye.
"I am trying to stay positive even though currently my future is uncertain. I remember when it happened, I put my hand up to my face and it was covered in blood. I just kept saying, I hope I won't go blind," he told The Birmingham Mail.
Doctors have said that Mr Brabbin will not get his sight back in his right eye.
The firm has had admitted liability for the accident and Mr Brabbin is waiting for legal proceedings for compensation to begin.
