Fatal traffic accident could be due to oil spillRSS Feed
A traffic accident which killed three friends was possibly caused in part by a faulty farm vehicle, according to reports.
The forage harvester had leaked a pool of hydraulic fluid onto the road on the day before the crash, an inquest was told.
Jessica Foxley, her boyfriend Tom Petty and friend Philip Wright were fatally injured in July 2009 when the car they were in spun out of control, hitting a wall.
A contractor said that workers had been sent out to cover the spill with sand but according to the BBC, witness motorcyclist Robert Holt said he had notified the police of the spill as it was an "accident waiting to happen".
Twenty one-year-old Ms Foxley, along with the two men, both aged 25, were returning from a wedding when the incident occurred.
The three were all employees of Pendle Leisure trust. Ms Foxley was an aspiring singer, Mr Petty was a lifeguard and Mr Wright was a bar manager.
