Fatal traffic accident 'caused by snow'RSS Feed
One man has died and two others were seriously injured in a traffic accident partly due to the snow and ice currently covering the UK.
The three-vehicle collision occurred after a red Foden recovery truck broke down on an exit slip road in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
A white Ford Transit was parked in front of this vehicle, with another red Foden lorry in front.
This lorry rolled back into the transit van, pushing it against the other lorry and trapping two men, police say.
The passenger suffered fatal injuries while one other man experienced slight hip, leg and back injuries and a third was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary with minor leg injuries.
This accident has sparked fresh worries about driving in the arctic weather conditions, with authorities warning people not to travel unless absolutely necessary.
Peter Rodger, the Institute of Advanced Motorists chief examiner, said: "Avoid travelling unless completely necessary, and don't ignore police warnings or advice to not travel on specific routes. Can you work remotely, or change your schedule?"
