Cardiff firm fined after employee suffers burns in accident at workRSS Feed
A Cardiff firm could be facing an accident claim after a worker suffered burns while carrying out electrical maintenance.
Celsa Manufacturing has already been fined £80,000 after admitting responsibility for the accident at work, in which an employee suffered a 33,000-volt shock when he came into contact with exposed wires.
Henry Truszkowski, 51, was cleaning conductors and circuit breaker units in a control room at the firm's Castle Works plant in 2008 when the accident occurred.
A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation found that Celsa had failed to take the necessary precautions to prevent employees coming into contact with electrical conductors.
HSE inspector Steve Curry said: "Had Celsa Manufacturing (UK) ensured correct and safe working practices were in operation, the serious injuries Mr Truszkowski suffered may have been avoided."
The news comes after the prosecution of Powersystems UK after an accident at work in which an employee suffered severe burns.
