Asbestos forum set to deliver accident claims advice

Advice on accident claims in relation to asbestos will be on the agenda at a forthcoming training event delivered by Environmental Essentials.

People from small businesses with fewer than 50 employees are invited to attend the event, which takes place on April 29th and 30th at the Bridge Centre on Birches Head Road in Stoke-on-Trent.

A broad range of issues are on the syllabus, including: the properties of asbestos and its effects on health; the types of materials likely to contain asbestos; tasks that may result in asbestos exposure, and tips on safer working practices.

Places on the training course cost £20 each and further information can be obtained by emailing suzanne.bradley@keir.co.uk.

Meanwhile, the head of general insurance at Co-operative Financial Services has called for a new fund to be established to assist people with asbestos-related illnesses who are unable to trace past employers' liability insurance policies.

David Neave suggested that the insurance industry should fund a pool of money that could provide payouts for such individuals.
