Accident claims roadshows focus on asbestos inspectionsRSS Feed
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is running a series of roadshows with the key message that asbestos surveys are only effective if they are carried out by competent professionals.
A number of roadshows focusing on asbestos have already taken place around the country, with more events set to be held in Cardiff (May 19th), Birmingham (June 16th) and London (June 30th).
The roadshows follow up the HSE's publication in January of a document entitled Asbestos: The Survey Guide, which is aimed at those who commission asbestos surveys, the surveyors who carry them out and those who use them, such as architects and demolition or removal contractors.
"Ensuring that contractors are competent to do asbestos surveys should be a top priority for those responsible for managing the risks from asbestos," said Dr Martin Gibson, author of the guide and a principal specialist inspector for the HSE.
The HSE is headquartered in Bootle, Merseyside, and also operates from a large number of local offices right across the UK.
