Accident claims advice offered to Cheshire catering firms

Companies in the hospitality and catering industry in the Cheshire area are being offered health and safety advice to help them avoid falling foul of legislation.

Businessman John Cosgrove is providing consultancy, training and hygiene solutions to restaurants, pubs and hotels in the county and its surrounding areas, including north Wales, reports the Chester Chronicle.

He revealed that he can provide tailor-made advice on problem areas in kitchens and serving areas.

"I can take the headache out of the compliance procedures so that they can concentrate on running their business and looking after their customers," Mr Cosgrove told the newspaper.

He claimed that businesses today have to navigate around a "maze of ever-tightening regulations" governing food production.

The Conservative Party leader David Cameron has suggested in an online debate run by the Independent newspaper that the country is suffering due to an excessive health and safety culture.

However, the Penman and Sommerlad Investigate column in the Daily Mirror recently stated that Britain now has one of the best workplace safety records in the world, thanks to the work of health and safety professionals and robust legislation.
