Accident at work kills fatherRSS Feed
A man has died after an accident at work resulted in a mobile conveyor belt landing on top of him.
Richard Livingston died in an industrial accident at the Emerald Isle Recycling plant in Randalstown in Northern Ireland on Friday (July 2nd).
The 35-year-old father-of-one was working for his brother, who owns the facility that specialises in recycling plastics.
It is understood that the Health and Safety Executive is investigating the incident.
The deputy mayor of Ballymena Alderman William McNeilly told the Ballymena Times: "This is such a tragedy. He was a hard working and well respected member of the community.
"He would have helped his brother out from time to time at the recycling business. He was just a hardworking a dedicated family man."
The news comes as the issue of potential accident claims emerging from work-related incidents was raised after electrics firm Comet was fined £75,000 for the death of a roofing worker at its Wrexham store in 2007.
