Accident Claims: Fundraiser held for Wiltshire victimRSS Feed
The victim of a traffic accident who was left paralysed from the chest down has prompted a massive fundraising effort by friends.
Friends of Catherine Kouam, from Wiltshire, managed to raise more than £6,000 to support her recovery, reports the Herald Express.
Speaking to the newspaper, fundraiser Vanessa Francesca explained why the disco night had been such a success.
She said: "It went extremely well. We sold 250 tickets at £5 a go. We also had a raffle which raised £3,000.
"The event was great. The acts were fantastic. Everyone had a good time."
Road Safety Analysis figures published earlier this month suggest that a traffic accident will hurt around one child in every 27.
The research was based on five years of data covering 120,000 child road casualties. Researchers found that children living in Preston were twice as likely to be injured on the road than the national average.
Furthermore, Preston kids were five times more likely to be involved in a road accident than those living in Kensington & Chelsea.
