Injured motorbike rider

Client overview

Our client was aged 42 and worked at a builders merchant, employed as a foreman. He was a keen motorcyclist, and enjoyed riding his Honda CBR with his friends as part of a local club. As well as using his motorcycle for leisure, he used it as his mode of transport for work during the summer months.

The accident

One Wednesday morning, on his usual route to work, a car pulled out of a petrol station directly into the path of our client. The driver of the car did not look before pulling out. Our client attempted to swerve to avoid the car, but the car had travelled too far into the road. Our client hit the car and rolled across the bonnet, such was the force of the impact. Our client sustained multiple fractures, including a fractured clavicle, compound fracture of the ankle and deep scarring. He required several surgeries and insertion of metal rods in his left leg. These injuries left him unable to work for four months.

Serious Law’s involvement

Our in-house investigation team secured CCTV footage from the petrol station and gathered other witness evidence. The strength of this investigation resulted in an immediate admission of liability from the driver. On this basis we provided our client with immediate financial assistance in the form of interim payments and loss of earnings compensation.

We put in place a programme of private rehabilitation to ensure recovery from injuries was as smooth as possible. This was supplemented by regular private medical assessments to ensure that all injuries were healing to the expected levels.

The situation now

Following the period of private rehabilitation, our client returned to work and was able to ride the new replacement motorcycle that we secured to meet his exact specifications.
