Eye injury
Eye injury overview
The eye is protected by the eye socket, but the delicate nature of the eye can lead to serious injuries in situations such as road traffic accidents. Eye injuries can take several forms such as corneal abrasions which are scratches to the cornea, chemical burns which occur as a result of an irritant entering the eye, hyphema which is caused by a blow to the eye resulting in blood being seen in the eyeball or fractures of the eye socket. Fractures of the eye socket are known as orbital fractures.
